Metal: Hellsinger update aims to banish achievement bugs

By Luke Albigés,

Metal: Hellsinger gets its first DLC drop today with Dream of the Beast, and a title update released alongside it makes another attempt to fix the rhythm-shooter's buggy No Rest for the Wicked achievement.

Players having been reporting issues with the Metal: Hellsinger achievements for some time, with No Rest for the Wicked in particular giving folks hell by not unlocking properly upon completing all of the game's Torment challenges. According to the latest patch notes, however, the team has made "another attempt at slaying the issue" in this new update, so hopefully you'll have more luck with the achievement now.

In the Dream of the Beast DLC, make the Hells fear the beat with two new songs (Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil and Will Ramos from Lorna Shore), a new weapon, and three outfits with unique gameplay bonuses.

The troublesome achievement is the very first thing listed in the bug fixes section of the notes. "We’ve made another attempt at slaying the issue that was causing the No Rest for the Wicked achievement from unlocking. This time harder," it says, so fingers crossed the team has actually managed to get to the bottom of the problem this time... let us know how you get on with the achievement after this new update down in the comments.

The Dream of the Beast DLC and other features of the update could also stand to make for an easier completion. A new outfit selector gives The Unknown special passive abilities depending on the costume used — the DLC ones seem to have some pretty potent effects, including health regen or shields on picking up Fury Boost and max ammo boosts after quick reloading. The update also adds the ability to play any level to any song, so if there's a particular track you struggle with, swapping it out for one you find easier should make life in Hell that little bit less... well, hellish.

Planning on going back to Metal: Hellsinger for this DLC and the update? How do you think the rhythm-FPS stacks up to the best games on Game Pass? Let us know down in the comments!
