Xbox sales: TA Team Picks (April 15th) — Spring Sale 2023 By Tom West, 15 Apr 2023 FollowtopicsXbox Series X|SSaleTom West Microsoft has rolled out a huge wave of discounts with the Spring Sale, slashing prices on games across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. Here's what the TrueAchievements news team thinks are great pick-ups!As you enjoy another weekend, why not have a look through this week's Xbox sales and the massive selection of discounted games in the Spring Sale to see if there is a game or two you can add to your collection for a discount? Like other weeks, prices have been cut on games across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC, and because we're suckers for a good bargain, we've listed a few games below that we love from our collections that you can get for a bargain.Discounts from the bargain binLuke — Marvel's Midnight Suns Legendary EditionI picked up Marvel's Midnight Suns at launch back in December, and I've been really enjoying it so far. Firaxis really doesn't miss when it comes to turn-based strategy games, and unlike Marvel's Avengers where the characters felt so close to their MCU counterparts that it just ended up feeling like an off-brand knock-off, Midnight Suns manages to show slightly more of each of the heroes both in and out of battle to make this feel like its own take on these familiar characters. Combat encounters are pretty small-scale compared to something like XCOM, but that just tightens up the strategic aspect and makes you do the best you can with the limited space you have to play with, manipulating enemy positions and the battlefield itself to set up some really satisfying chain attacks. One aspect I know some people haven't enjoyed is how much downtime there is, but I think it works — XCOM has you spending a lot of time doing management stuff at base rather than constantly putting you out in the field to avoid overstressing you with strings of tense battles, and the same is true here. You get to fully explore your base of operations, the Abbey, and its huge grounds, almost like modern Mortal Kombat Krypts with plenty of puzzles and secrets to discover as you explore further and further from home. Or, you can just chill for an evening when returning for a mission, grabbing a drink with Tony Stark, sparring with Blade, or playing some retro games with Peter Parker... yes, Spidey actually made it to this party. It's kinda daft, but then so is the very concept of a lot of these characters, and as much of the MCU has shown, superhero media can be fantastic when it doesn't take itself too seriously, and those more personal moments just make the times when things do get real all the more poignant. This big ol' bundle will get you the full game, season pass, and a bunch of extra costumes for half price, which is a darn decent deal given how much game there is here even without all that additional content.Marvel's Midnight Suns Legendary EditionDARKNESS FALLS. There is nothing like it, and it’s required watching for anyone interested in games, as it offers such an honest and unique insight into a world that none of us gets to see. Off the back of that wonderful series, I delved back into Psychonauts 2 to see who worked on what parts of the game and how it all came together. Now, as part of the Xbox Spring Sale, you can pick up this excellent action-adventure platformer for just $20.99/£19.24/€20.90, but if you have Game Pass, you might as well play it through that. Psychonauts 2 follows Raz, a young acrobat training to become a member of the international task force, the Psychonauts. Using Raz’s psychic abilities, you will explore the twisted minds of other characters and battle their mental demons in order to find out who has captured the leader of the Psychonauts. While the platforming and combat are both excellent in Psychonauts 2, it’s the character, art direction, humour, and brilliant world Double Fine and Tim Schafer managed to create that really makes the game sing. After watching PsychOdyssey, I have a deeper appreciation for the developers who poured their hearts and souls into this game, and I can assure you, it’s well worth the $20 Xbox are currently asking for it. Psychonauts 2Combining quirky missions and mysterious conspiracies, Psychonauts 2 is a platform-adventure game with cinematic style and tons of customizable psychic powers.$20.99$59.99 or PC Game Pass£19.24£54.99 or PC Game Pass€20.99€59.99 or PC Game Pass$34.98$99.95 or PC Game Pass$27.99$79.99 or PC Game PassR$87.48R$249.95 or PC Game PassSet price alertTom — Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced EditionWhile I certainly prefer Dying Light 2's modern Dark Ages vibe, the original is still up there as one of my all-time favourite zombie games. Unlike its sequel, Dying Light is set in the early days of the pandemic when it was confined to the fictional city of Harran and hadn't yet spread across the globe. We play as Kyle Crane, a government agent who is sent into the city to track down a survivor that has documents that could lead to curing the virus wreaking havoc on the streets of Harran, but Crane soon finds himself wrapped in a moral conflict, government conspiracy, and a fight for survival deadlier than he could have expected. Techland raised the bar for action-based zombie games with Dying Light by adding a parkour system that allows you to traverse Harran's streets by ground, wall, and rooftop. It's a smooth experience that blends fantastically with the game's combat, and just makes for an awesome bit of fun, especially when you hop in with some friends. Building on what the developer achieved with Dead Island, Dying Light also includes weapon modding with items you find in the environment, a durability system, and some fantastic characters to meet, help, and defeat along the way. It's an awesome game, and this week you can pick up The Following: Enhanced Edition, which includes the two DLC packs you need for the full completion, at an 70% discount. If you've not played it before, or have considered returning to the world, this is a fantastic time to dive back in! Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced EditionDying Light: Enhanced Edition is the fullest definition of an open world zombie game set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies.
