Halo 4's Creative Director Leaves 343

By Jonathan Barnes, 7 years ago
Remember that scene in National Lampoon's Animal House where a young Kevin Bacon is left to scream, "ALL IS WELL!!!" after the Deltas destroy Faber's Homecoming Parade? I'm not saying something similar is going down at 343 Industries, but Halo 4's creative director, Ryan Payton, left the company today to start a new studio, Camouflaj.

In an interview with Kotaku, Payton said:

...After a few years, there came a point where I wasn't creatively excited about the project anymore... The Halo I wanted to build was fundamentally different and I don't think I had built enough credibility to see such a crazy endeavor through.
The specifics behind Payton's responsibilities and contributions to the in-production, second trilogy featuring Master Chief are unknown, but with a staff that's primarily composed of ex-Bungie employees, one can only hope that Halo 4 remains in good hands with 343.

While Halo 4 isn't due until Holiday 2012, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is set for a November 15th release.
