Remember that scene in National Lampoon's Animal House
where a young Kevin Bacon is left to scream, "ALL IS WELL!!!" after the Deltas destroy Faber's Homecoming Parade? I'm not saying something similar is going down at 343 Industries, but Halo 4
's creative director, Ryan Payton, left the company today to start a new studio, Camouflaj.
In an interview with Kotaku, Payton said:
...After a few years, there came a point where I wasn't creatively excited about the project anymore... The Halo I wanted to build was fundamentally different and I don't think I had built enough credibility to see such a crazy endeavor through.
The specifics behind Payton's responsibilities and contributions to the in-production, second trilogy featuring Master Chief are unknown, but with a staff that's primarily composed of ex-Bungie employees, one can only hope that Halo 4
remains in good hands with 343.
While Halo 4
isn't due until Holiday 2012, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
is set for a November 15th release.
