What games could leave Xbox Game Pass in May 2023?

May is almost here, and to help you plan out your achievement-hunting efforts, we've delved into some data to produce a list of games that might leave Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass in May.

With new games coming to Game Pass each month, sadly, older titles have to be removed from the service to make way for the new. We've delved deep into some historical Game Pass data to produce a list of games that could potentially leave the service in May, so you can get a heads-up on what to focus on before Microsoft makes an official announcement.

12 months

You'll find that most games tend to stick around in Game Pass for about a year. The games listed below all joined the service 12 months ago, so their time might be up in Game Pass come May.

What a month May 2022 was for Game Pass! So many good games joined the service this time last year, including Citizen Sleeper, Jurassic World Evolution 2, and Sniper Elite 5. For those looking for some easy Gamerscore, you'll absolutely want to hit up Her Story (PC Game Pass only) and Umurangi Generation Special Edition, which are both quick completions. Considering the first Danganronpa game was only in Game Pass for 12 months, it's likely that we'll see Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition leave in May. If you want a completion for Danganronpa 2 on your card, you'll need to set aside around 60 hours for it.

As for Hardspace: Shipbreaker, it was the PC version that joined Game Pass this time last year, with the console version following suit four months later, so it's unlikely it will leave the service next month, but you never know... we've included it anyway, just in case. It's also very unlikely we'll see Vampire Survivors drop out of Game Pass — the PC version joined a year ago in Game Preview, but the console version was only added in November.

18 months

It's not often, but we sometimes see games leave Game Pass after a period of 18 months in the service. These games were added to Game Pass back in November 2021.

If you haven't already started it, Evil Genius 2: World Domination has a chunky completion estimate of 120-150 hours, so you may want to jump on the management game now just in case it does leave in May. Dicey Dungeons has an estimated completion time of 40-50 hours, and My Friend Pedro can be complete in under 20 hours. Exo One and Kill It With Fire also have somewhat short completion times, but if you want to tick off a super quick completion before May, Unpacking takes just a couple of hours to beat.

My Friend Pedro had a stint in Game Pass for two years before it left the service and was readded several months later. It's possible that another two-year deal has been signed, and the 2.5D shooter might stick around for another six months.

24 months

While most games that joined Game Pass two years ago have left, there are a few that still remain in the service.

Aside from Conan Exiles and Maneater, the rest of the games that joined back in May 2021 have pretty lengthy completion times, with the biggest being SnowRunner, which will take you around 200 mud-churning hours to complete.

36 months

Next, we have the games that have been in Game Pass for a huge 36 months. While they have remained in the service for three years now, it's possible that their time with Game Pass could be coming to an end.

Once upon a time, DayZ was a quick completion thanks to an achievement server, but developer Bohemia Interactive has now made it so achievements can only be unlocked on official servers. We're not too sure how long a completion will take here, but you could probably get it done fairly quickly if you're boosting with other players. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries has a completion estimate of 60-80 hours, while Golf With Your Friends can be completed in about 12 hours per stack.

48 months

Finally, we come to the stalwarts of Game Pass — games that have been in the service since May 2019. Could these titles drop out of the service next month?

While we don't think Descenders will leave the service (publisher No More Robots is a big fan of Game Pass), you can never be sure! A completion for the downhill biking game will take between 80 and 100 hours, so you may want to get cracking in case it does leave next month. As for Dead by Daylight and Black Desert, completions here could take you up to 300 hours.
