Five Nights at Freddy's movie locked in for Halloween release

By Tom West,

Universal Pictures has announced that the Five Nights at Freddy's movie will release in October, and the teaser trailer gives us every hope we'll be in for a treat.

Following numerous delays and cancellations, the Five Nights at Freddy's movie will finally release in theatres and on Peacock's streaming service this year on October 27. While the series' creator, Scott Cawthorn has retired from making any new games, he's been credited as a producer and screenwriter — and the teaser trailer looks fantastic.

Five Nights at Freddy's teaser trailer

Co-produced by Blumhouse Production's Jason Blum and directed by The Wind's Emma Tammi, the Five Nights at Freddy's movie sees Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) play a troubled security guard working at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. During his first night on the job, however, he realizes things aren't going to be as easy as he first thought.

If you didn't blink at a specific moment, you might have spotted the fantastic Matthew Lillard (Scooby-Doo, Scream, Good Girls) in one scene. Joining Hutcherson and Lillard is Elizabeth Lail (You, Mack & Rita), Piper Rubio (Holly & Ivy, Unstable), Kat Connor Sterling (We Have a Ghost), and Mary Stuart Masterson (Blindspot).
