Metal Gear Solid 3 remake officially announced for Xbox

It's official! Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is real and it's coming to Xbox. Sony unveiled the remake, officially named Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater during its PlayStation Showcase. [updated]

After numerous leaks, rumors, and speculation, it's finally been made official: Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is real and it's coming to Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. The remake was announced during the PlayStation Showcase, without a release date.

Also announced was Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, which includes the original Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. This collection will release this autumn but platforms other than PS5 have not yet been confirmed.

Back in October 2021, it was first rumored that a remake of Konami's classic stealth game Metal Gear Solid 3 was in development, and while nothing has been officially announced, rumors surrounding the game have suddenly sparked back into life ahead of tonight's PlayStation Showcase.

Metal Gear Solid 3 remake isn't a PlayStation exclusive, report claims

The catalyst for these rumors is a report from Windows Central's Jez Corden, who can "independently hard confirm" that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is indeed "real" and that it will be coming to Xbox and PC despite presumptions that it was a PlayStation exclusive. Corden notes that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will be revealed during Sony's PlayStation Showcase tonight.

While Metal Gear Solid HD Edition: 2 & 3 remains in delisting limbo, it seems that Xbox players may have another way to play these classic MGS titles. Corden also says Windows Central has received information about a Metal Gear Solid Classic Collection, which will include the original Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3 but remastered in HD. It's said that this Classic Collection will be announced at a later date.
