Ubisoft has now confirmed that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is, development-wise, "in conception right now" — given that the game was at one point meant to come out in 2021, this seems to suggest that Ubisoft Montreal has started over with development. What's more, the remake won't feature at this year's Ubisoft Forward either, yet Ubisoft reassures fans that the project is "very much alive." https://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/109422.jpg Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake still only in conception phase "While the project is still heavily under wraps and won’t be at Ubisoft Forward in June, it’s very much alive," says Ubisoft News' Mikel Reparaz. "In terms of the development stage, we're in conception right now," explains producer Jean-Francois Naud. "Since we took over the project, we've been looking at feedback from the community and finding our own way of delivering the game. Now, we're building up the team, defining the priorities, putting prototypes together, testing elements, and looking at how we can include community feedback in the development as well. It’s still in an early stage, and players should not expect to hear more about the game this year, but rest assured that we’re all putting our strengths and heart into this project." This all suggests we still have quite a wait on our hands before the remake arrives. Game director Michael McIntyre goes on to explain how technological advancements and the "evolutions" of players and game-makers mean that a remake would do a much better job than a remaster at "truly evolving the game to meet a modern context." Naud adds, "the big challenge is really to find that narrow line where we can modernize the game while not distorting the original experience for fans, but still able to offer something new for newcomers. That narrow line is going to be our path." There's no word yet on when we can expect more news on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, but we'll keep you updated.
