TA Community Interview - dudecrazy108

By Jonathan Barnes, 7 years ago
This week’s subject for The Gamish Inquisition was nominated, not by one, but TWO members of the community. Because I’m a sucker for the democratic process, I couldn’t NOT interview him.

With that in mind, grab yourself a slice of Sunday pizza and enjoy this week’s edition of The Gamish Inquisition!

obj - There’s a story behind every gamertag. What’s yours? If your answer doesn’t include a Lebowski reference, I will be sorely disappointed.

dc- It's weird but before I had live I'd play at a friends house and one day while playing Gears someone said "dude your crazy". I thought of this and it took a year before the gay jokes starting coming at me. ( No pun intended). But I almost changed it to "thedude108" several times but got talked out of it.

obj – Your bio on TA says, and I QUOTE:

If your reading this than you know too much about me already.
So my next question is: WHAT ARE YOU HIDING?

dc- [Chose to abstain from answering this question… very interesting… ~obj]

obj -Where is home for you and, if I were to pay a visit, where would I have to eat, drink and be merry before I left?

dc- I live in Chicago IL. The big apple! No wait its "The Windy City". But you'd have to come up and try some Deep Dish Pizza. Its excellent. Also this no name gyro place by me has the best cheese sticks ever.

obj – I once said that I saw Jesus after taking a bite of Giordano’s Pizza… so good.

Since you live in Chicago (one of my favorite cities) I have to ask, “Who would win in a fight, Ditka or a Lambent Berserker?”

dc- Ditka. I don't think he can die.

obj – Is there a wifecrazy, girlcrazy, momcrazy (a personal favorite), dadcrazy, dogcrazy or badgercrazy that shares your home with you, and, if so, how do they feel about gaming?

dc- There is a badgercrazy but I lost him. But my family thinks its kinda a waste of time because of how much I play it but my mom really doesn't care. Keeps me from going to jail! clap

obj – While Pink Floyd thinks money is a crime, it is somewhat necessary in today’s society. With that in mind, what pays the bills/buys the games in the dudecrazy home?

dc- I do and my job doesn't pay me enough. I make enough money to two weeks to buy two new releases but bills get in the way so I stick to renting. I find Redbox to be amazing!!!!

obj - When you’re not gaming or working, what other hobbies do you enjoy?

dc- I love concerts! Like more than gaming so I can always hit shows. Like this summer alone I saw My Chemical Romance/Blink 182, Summer Slaughter Tour, All Stars Tour, Warped Tour, Mr.Big, Anvil, and thats only 1/4th of it. I also end up meeting and hanging out with alot of bands from the shows. I also enjoy doing vocals. Use to be lead singer of a metal band!

obj – Mr. Big? Really? Seems a bit out of place in the list… but awesome.

Aside from games, what is your favorite form of media and who is your favorite artist within it?

dc- I love music and my favorite artist has to be "The Black Dahlia Murder". Their amazing and their live performance is perfection. Saw them live 3 times now.

obj – Before we start The Gamish Inquisition, is there any question you want me to ask that I have not? As always, an answer to this question is required as my potent powers of prognostication have piddled past their prime.

dc- Well you did ask for my phone number. Thought that was kinda odd for this Q&A.

obj – It was the only way I could get Giordano’s to deliver to C-Bus!

Let’s start off The Gamish Inquisition with a pic of your setup and a quick description of its features.

dc- I've just got a small setup with a Xbox 360 with http://www.trueachievements.com/Turok-xbox-360.htm skin on it. ( Awesome right!). Also I use a wireless connecter and have a 60 gig hard drive. Nothing too special but I don't have tons of space in my room. Also on my shelf I have about 70 retail Xbox 360 games. I'm constantly buying and selling them. I own about 80 arcade games for Xbox 360. Also last time I checked I have somewhere around 400 movies. I love my movie collection.

obj – If you could hop into the DeLorean with Doc Brown and Einstein to STOP yourself from playing the worst game you’ve ever played, what game would you go back in time to erase?

dc- Wow thats a hard one. Maybe http://www.trueachievements.com/Rio-xbox-360.htm or http://www.trueachievements.com/MINDJACK-xbox-360.htm .

obj – I’ll take the blame on Mindjack, I feel like I ran a lot of pre-release coverage on it.

Flip side of that question, which game would you go back in time to tell yourself to play MORE?

dc- http://www.trueachievements.com/Call-of-Duty-4-xbox-360.htm Online. 18 days online isn't enough.

obj – Let’s stay in the past for a minute and imagine that the first video game you ever played had achievements. What would be that game’s highest ratio’d achievement here on TA?

dc- I don't remember the first game I ever played but its prolly Killer Instint on SNES and the achievement would be for completing the game with every character without being defeated once. Thats a real achievement laugh

obj – What is one game from a bygone era that you would like to see rebooted to the 360?

dc- Super Mario World (SNES). That'll never happen.

obj – The top game on your gamercard is http://www.trueachievements.com/Gears-of-War-2-xbox-360.htm. With Gears of War 3 set to release next month, what is the ONE request you want to put to CliffyB and the team at Epic?

dc- Can I have a free copy! clap

obj – You have earned over 5,000 achievements in over 400 games, yet have only “completed” sixteen. I’m going to assume that you could be the first gamer we’ve interviewed that is not driven to “close out” games. With that in mind, what drives you to complete (or not complete) a game?

dc- Well I'm not going to do collectibles, boost online for weeks, or beat the game 4 times. I'll play it for however long I find it fun and thats that. Like for DeathSpank and http://www.trueachievements.com/Torchlight-xbox-360.htm and stuff I loved the games so much that I got all 200. I even played them after that still.

obj – With all of those games on your gamercard do you typically buy, rent or borrow/trade your games?

dc- I use to rent alot but now I'll just rent from Redbox. I have one game out from Gamefly but thats been http://www.trueachievements.com/Dragon-Age-II-xbox-360.htm for like months and I'm cancelling Gamefly and I'll buy games used and keep them or sell them back for different ones. All depends on how I feel lol.

obj – You’ve got quite a few WP7 games on your card. How would you rate Microsoft’s foray into the mobile space and what are the best games available right now?

dc- I LOVE the phone. Only thing I hate is when I play and my fingers slip and hit the home button. Best games though are stuff like http://www.trueachievements.com/The-Harvest-xbox-360.htm, http://www.trueachievements.com/Beards--Beaks-xbox-360.htm, http://www.trueachievements.com/Bejeweled-LIVE-xbox-360.htm, And http://www.trueachievements.com/Sallys-Salon-LE-xbox-360.htm . Its quite fun.

obj - In your initial message you said that you typically don’t care about the story in your games, but “cared” about the story in http://www.trueachievements.com/Bastion-xbox-360.htm. What does it take for you to really “care” about a story?

dc- It has to be interesting and done in a great way. In Bastion it was done to where I don't have to watch cutscenes really because the narration happened while i was playing and it was unfolding in front of me. I don't want to have to sit there and watch videos. I want to PLAY!

obj – With stories not being a huge factor in your enjoyment of a game, what IS your biggest factor?

dc- Gameplay and controls. If I can't stand the controls I can't play the game. Doesn't matter how amazing it is.

obj – Let’s imagine, for a moment, that you are convicted of a crime which you did NOT commit and are sentenced to death. The judge, however, is a gamer and has granted you one last night of gaming. What game will you play and why?

dc- COD4 online because its by far my favorite online game ever and is perfect online for me.

obj – What is your favorite beverage to enjoy while gaming?

dc- Tea! laugh

obj – Everyone has at least one “shameful” game on their gamercard. What is your “Game of Shame” and what makes it so shameful?

dc- Sallys Salon. People that don't know what the game is think its funny.

obj – And now, are you ready for the 1.21 Gigawatt shock of The Lightning Round?

obj - Any final thoughts, shout-outs or soap-box statements?

dc- I'd like to thank my parents for having me. The academy and all the people at home watching me. Also Tasty Pastry for making it possible.

A big thanks goes out to dudecrazy108 for being this week’s subject.

As always:

FYI - You’re MUCH more likely to be selected if you’re well-written, interesting, funny and/or can deliver me a piping hot Giordano’s pizza… like… NOW.
