Xbox sales: TA Team Picks (July 29) The Xbox sales are back this week, discounting games and DLC across console and PC. Here are the games the TrueAchievements news team thinks are good gets.Tom West Published 29 Jul 2023 FollowtopicsSaleXbox Series X|STom West There is a reasonable selection of games and DLC on offer in this week's Xbox sales, even though the Xbox Ultimate Game Sale is still running until Monday. If you're looking for some games and DLC across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC, it's always good to take a look to see if you can snag anything at a discount.Once again, the TrueAchievements news team has had a look through the sales to find a selection of games we think would be great additions to your library. Check out what we've found below.Discounts from the bargain binHeidi — Immortals Fenyx Rising - Gold EditionOk, so this sales pick is partly fuelled by rage that Ubisoft has reportedly cancelled an Immortals Fenyx Rising sequel. We know the company is refocusing mainly on its major IP, but still — Immortals Fenyx Rising is a great game, and it’d be a real shame not to see a sequel. The game isn’t perfect, sure, but that didn’t matter so much to me when it was so much fun to play. Our character is the winged demigod Fenyx, who has to save the Greek gods from the titan Typhon and his army of mythological beasties. The humor is cheesy, the dialogue can be questionable, and the game name makes no sense (it should have stayed Gods & Monsters!) but that being said, there’s a lot to love about Immortals. The Breath of the Wild inspirations are clear, and Immortals’ game world is beautiful to explore, with seven regions themed around different gods and goddesses. Like Breath of the Wild, it’s also easy to set yourself a destination and then get entirely distracted on the way by the sheer amount of stuff to explore. A big world full of loot can get a bit overbearing in some Ubi games, but in Immortals it was always fun to collect each new colorful piece of gear, new mount, new skin for Phosphor (your phoenix), and everything else scattered around the game. Immortals doesn’t take itself too seriously, and this works really well in this setting, with ridiculous characters and ludicrously over-sized flashy weapons. There’s always something to work towards and I enjoyed my time with the base game — this Gold Edition also includes the Season Pass, getting you the Chinese mythology-inspired Myths of the Eastern Realm DLC, the A New God DLC, and The Lost Gods DLC. That last DLC overturns things with a new top-down perspective and a different style of combat. My favorite so far is Myths of the Eastern Realm, but there’s a lot to choose from there. The Gold Edition also has the two bonus quests: When the Road Gets Rocky and A Tale of Fire and Lightning. All-in-all, you’re getting a lot for around $20/£20, especially considering the base game alone is on sale at the moment for $11.99/£11.99. And now that there probably won’t be a sequel, the Gold Edition is the most Immortals Fenyx Rising content we’ll see for some time.Immortals Fenyx Rising™ Gold EditionReceive the game, Season Pass and bonus in-game content with the Gold Edition.Immortals Fenyx Rising brings grand mythological adventure to life. After a stressful day, I like to fire up SnowRunner and think of nothing but what route I’m going take to get my cargo to its destination. If you’re yet to play this one, SnowRunner is an open-world simulation game that tasks you with delivering cargo to different locations. On paper, it sounds really simple, and it would be if you didn’t have to cross some absolutely gnarly terrain while managing your fuel consumption and gears and making sure you don’t get whatever vehicle you’re carefully driving stuck up to the axles in mud. At times, SnowRunner will make you fight for every inch of progress on the way to your destination, and you’ll often be winching yourself out of whatever muddy bog or waterlogged swamp you’ve gotten stuck in. I love it, and there’s nothing quite as rewarding as finally reaching your destination with your precious cargo intact and breathing a sigh of relief. For every delivery you make, you’ll earn money which can be spent on customizing or upgrading your current vehicles and on new off-road vehicles. In total, including DLC, I believe there are over 60 different vehicles, so you have plenty of different options that will match your playstyle. Now, SnowRunner has been cheaper before, but I think for $29.99/£23.99/€29.99 it’s worth it. It’s also available with Xbox Game Pass, so you can also check it out with your subscription if you’re a member. It's a fantastic selection of zombie-slaying games, and with the current 75% discount, you can pick up this triple pack of flesh-flaying fun for only $7.49 / £6.24 / €7.49. Both Dead Island and Riptide are fantastic to play solo or with up to four friends as you scavenge for supplies, upgrade your weapons into unconventional death-dealing devices, and explore a tropical island crammed with dead beasties to annihilate. I've not played Retro Revenge, but having it included in this bundle can only be a bonus, right? As a special mention, Dambuster Studios' latest game and reboot of the franchise, Dead Island 2, is also on sale this week, but didn't take the full spot here due to it only offering a 25% discount, knocking the base game's price down to $52.49 / £44.99 / €52.42.Dead Island Definitive CollectionThe ultimate Dead Island collection – fully remastered!
