The Division 2 suspending players and undoing progress from XP exploit

By Heidi Nicholas,

Players who have exploited a bug in The Division 2's Descent game mode will be issued a suspension and will see their account progress rolled back.

The Division 2 is looking to impose sanctions such as suspensions on players who've been getting "unfair amounts of XP and SHD levels" by exploiting a bug in the Descent game mode.

The Division 2 has "identified individuals" who exploited the bug

"We want to take a moment to address an important matter concerning the Descent game mode. We are aware that certain players have been exploiting a bug in the game that allowed players to join another player already in Descent through the Ubisoft Connect interface and gain unfair amounts of XP and SHD levels," Ubisoft says.

"We take these issues very seriously and are committed to maintaining a fair and enjoyable gaming environment for all players. We have thoroughly investigated the situation and identified individuals who have systematically used the exploits."

The Division 2 team will be imposing sanctions: "first-time offenders" who exploited the bug will get an immediate two-week suspension and their accounts will be flagged so that any subsequent "offence" will earn them a longer suspension. Permanent suspensions will also be handed out for "multiple offences."

On top of this, "illegitimate players' progression" will be undone with their accounts rolled back to reset any progress made with the exploit, with The Division 2 team adding, "we believe it is crucial to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed and compete on a level playing field."
