Diablo 4 devs "figuring out" how to add more storage

By Tom West,

Blizzard "hears everybody" and is trying to "figure out" how to add more storage to Diablo 4, an issue players have been desperate for a fix for since launch.

Diablo 4's inventory storage issues should hopefully be a thing of the past in a future update, as Blizzard has said that it "hears everybody" and is working on expanding Diablo 4's storage. The developer notes, however, that its priority is "getting it right" over "doing it right now"

Blizzard confirms that it's looking to upgrade Diablo 4 storage

Diablo 4 review round up

One of Diablo 4's biggest features is its loot, which has players hoarding all kinds of gear to either break down or use for various builds as they attempt to become the ultimate demon-slaying machine. Unfortunately, though, since Diablo 4 launched on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, the in-game storage doesn't offer enough room for the plethora of items players want to hoard.

As spotted by PCGamesN, during a recent developer live stream, associate game director Joe Piepiora said that Blizzard "hears everybody" about the need for more storage. "I know it's frustrating to hear me say, but the reality is that we're moving really, really quickly on this, and we're trying to provide more space in the future. We're figuring out how we're going to get that accomplished." Piepiora later added that Blizzard is prioritizing "getting it right" over "doing it right now."

Following Piepiora, Blizzard general manager Rod Fergusson said, "One mistake some people make is this idea that [development] time is only 'what it takes to implement, and it's not — it's also what it takes to test and make sure that it's robust and stable. We have some heroic engineers who can turn stuff around very quickly, but we also have some heroic QA teams around the world."

One feature Blizzard has already announced, which it hopes will aid the storage issue, is the upcoming ability to contain your collected gems in the materials tab. "There are lots of different ways to slice away at this problem — that's an example of what we're trying to do to start trying to mitigate this a bit," Piepiora added.

"We're trying to move very quickly in a lot of these things," Piepiora said, "Some of them are a lot more challenging technically to do than others. But we are rapidly moving on as many changes as we can because we are fervently trying to make the very best version of Diablo 4 possible in the fastest time frame that we can deliver to the player base."

In other Diablo 4 news, Blizzard has once again debunked a rumor that the game is heading to Xbox Game Pass.
