While a physical PlayStation version will be available in Japan, it's been rumored for a while that Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will be a digital-only title across all platforms in the West. Now, developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has now seemingly confirmed that rumor.

RGG Studio seemingly confirms that Like a Dragon Gaiden will be digital-only

A tweet from the studio simply states that Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will be "available for download" on its November 9 release date, which seems to indeed suggest that boxed copies of the Yakuza spin-off won't be coming to the West.

Like A Dragon Gaiden might not get a physical Xbox release in the west

Rumors of a digital-only Western release for Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name began in June when Twitter account KamurochoBros claimed that after speaking to retailers, there would be "no physical ESRB version." As far as we can tell, both Sega and RGG Studio haven't commented on the rumor, but the wording in RGG's latest tweet seems to quietly confirm that it's true.

Alan Wake 2 developer Remedy has also announced that it's not releasing a physical version for its upcoming sequel. Remedy says it dropped a physical version to give the team "more time to polish" the game. The news of a digital-only Alan Wake 2 hasn't gone down well with fans, and it's likely that Yakuza fans will also be feeling pretty disappointed with RGG and Sega over not being able to pick up a boxed copy of Like a Dragon Gaiden.
