TA Gaming Stats - Sept. 12th to Sept. 18th 2011

By Dog of Thunder, 7 years ago
Gears of War 3 did not make the cut off for this week's stats. This post covers September 12th to September 18th. Despite the fact that I mentioned this here, someone will ask about it in the comments. You may mock these people.

This report is for the period 12 Sep '11 to 18 Sep '11.

Games Started
30,360 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 45,295 games between them (1,388 different games).

Gee, do you think Dead Island (Xbox 360) is a hit? Over 17,000 total gamers have now picked up the sun-drenched zombie apocalypse simulation. Yes, yes I know, Gears of War 3 made the list, but that's only the early adopters. That is nothing, NOTHING compared to what the number will look like next week.

Rise of Nightmares and The Gunstringer attempt to prove there's a Kinect audience that will play something besides https://www.trueachievements.com/Dance-Central-xbox-360.htm.

Finally, after many, many months of placing on this chart, L.A. Noire is done. With just shy of 42,000 total gamers, L.A.Noire is going out with its head held high.

The tyranny of Crimson Alliance reigns for another week as Microsoft was slow getting out redemption codes to people from the Summer of Arcade. I'm sure some people also actually bought the game and even more downloaded the "free" portion and didn't realize it was a glorified demo until it was too late.

For a shoot'em up, Radiant Silvergun made a decent debut. That is a real niche genre to begin with and being the spiritual predecessor to Ikaruga is bound to disenchant a segment of the population.

Renegade Ops was released with barely a whimper, yet gained solid ground and now stands at 552 total gamers. I have actually read pretty positive reviews about that game, but with Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team and Gatling Gears still warming my hard drive, don't think I need another dual-joystick shooter.

Top Arcade Games Started

For all of you English students learning about analogies, here's one for you that will not be on any test: Collapse! (WP) is to the WP7 as Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth is to the Xbox 360. Keep 538 in mind when we get to the "Completions" chart.

Top Windows Phone 7 Games Started

Games Completed
6,116 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 8,684 games between them (994 different games).

Congrats to those that finished Gears of War 2 in time for the threequel. Props as well to those that polished off Dead Island in record time.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is, much like Gears of War 2, represented by those trying to finish off a game before the next in the franchise hits shelves.

Top Retail Games Completed

Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 is boosted by recent DLC, which I can not wait to get my hands on as the Innistrad cards look awesome.

Doritos Crash Course, or as it is known by the TA Stats Committee (of One), "The Doritos Game That Is Actually Reasonably Difficult To Complete", makes a surprise reappearance after a few weeks off the chart.

Top Arcade Games Completed

Collaspe! is simply the easiest WP7 game of all time. 501 completions is not the most impressive, record setting stat set by this particular title. We'll see that in our next section.

Top Windows Phone 7 Games Completed

Achievements Won
58,648 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 704,065 achievements online between them (37,674 different achievements).

I know, all of these are from the same game. That is not the interesting stat to be learned from this chart. What is interesting, is that Dead Island has been so popular that the most common retail achievement earned this week still has a ratio of 1.30. After 3,966 gamers earned the Dedicated Student achievement this week alone, it still has a better TA ratio then all of Avatar: TLA.

Top Retail Achievements Won

At least the Arcade Achievements chart shows some variety. The "Ascend into Darkness" DLC for Magic 2012 makes an appearance alongside Radiant Silvergun, Crimson Alliance and Renegade Ops. That is a decent mix of some of the latest XBLA titles but with new blockbuster retail releases starting to arrive, can we expect the overall XBLA numbers to start dropping?

Top Arcade Achievements Won

This is where Collapse! makes TA Stat history. Every single achievement for Collapse! is listed under this chart. The title only has 10 achievements, and just happens to be very, very easy to complete.
