If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the festive season during your gaming time this year, developer Gamious has you covered with Season's Greetings, a prequel DLC for Lake, which takes place a year before the events of the main game in a snow-covered Providence Oaks.
The charming, laid-back town of Providence Oaks and its lovely inhabitants return in a new chapter of Lake with Season's Greetings. The DLC sees you playing as Meredith's father, Thomas Weiss, a year before the main game's story, during the holiday season of 1985. While Meredith was new to Providence Oaks during the main story, Season's Greetings will give us a fresh look at the town from the perspective of someone who has lived there for a long time. While much of the gameplay is based on Thomas' mail delivery job, we'll also have the chance to hang out with his friends after work, see what's on TV at night, and stroll through the streets during the wintery evenings.
"Not only will players learn more about the familiar faces they have grown to love from the main story, but Season’s Greetings introduces five completely new characters to the town of Providence Oaks, each with their very own storylines. The DLC will also provide more background to some unanswered questions that were teased in Lake. Following the ideals of the base game, Season’s Greetings will continue to focus on slice-of-life themes and relaxing vibes, this time embedded in a comfy holiday setting. So, curl up with some hot cocoa and a copy of Season’s Greetings because it isn’t Christmas until Thomas Weiss has delivered the holiday cheer."
Season's Greetings launches on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One today for $9.99. Although Lake isn't available alongside some of the best games on Game Pass anymore, players with an Xbox Game Pass subscription will be able to purchase the Lake: Special Delivery Bundle ($24.99), which contains the base game and DLC, for a 40% discount.
We don't know if any new Lake achievements will be included with Season's Greetings, but you can be sure that we'll let you know if there are!
