Halo: Reach Title Update Releases Today

By Rebecca Smith, 5 years ago
Players of http://www.trueachievements.com/game.aspx?gameid=2444 will be prompted to install a title update today. This title update will make absolutely no difference to the way that the game plays - no new playlists, no nerfed weapons, no matchmaking improvements. I hear you asking whether this update has a point, or whether it is just to delay your arrival into the matchmaking lists by a few seconds. Well, it does have a point, but this point will not become apparent until next month.

On October 4th, Halo: Reach will receive a brand new playlist. This 4v4 playlist will be the beta matchmaking hopper to test out the gameplay improvements that will be appearing in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. Featuring both Slayer and Objective gametypes, the DLC maps will be optional and all Objective gametypes will have DMR starts. The aim is to gather feedback specific to the title update, including the decisions players make in Matchmaking, as well as the comments left in the Halo Waypoint forums. The gameplay improvements are as follows:

• Make damage bleed to health through shields possible.
• Make reticle bloom configurable.
• Modify Armor Lock.
-- Sticky grenade will not be nullified if you use Armor Lock after being stuck.
-- Damage received while in Armor Lock is transferred to remaining Armor Ability energy.
-- How much the damage depletes your Armor Lock energy is configurable.
• Modify Active Camo.
-- Reduce the bonus time the player gets in Active Camo while standing still.
-- Reduce the overall length of time the player can be in Active Camo.
• Remove Sword block.
-- Disable the ability to block Sword attacks using melee with anything other than another Sword.
• Enable playing Co-Op Campaign and Firefight without requiring a HDD.
More details on each of these improvements can be found here. The full beta matchmaking playlist specifics are as follows:

The official Anniversary Playlists will appear in Halo: Reach on November 15th, alongside the worldwide release of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. When the official playlists are launched, 343 Studios will introduce the classic Magnum from Halo: Combat Evolved. The Magnum can be configured to be automatic, and players can also modify the rate of fire and damage from the gun. The Magnum will not be appearing in the beta hopper playlists.
