TA Gaming Stats - Sept. 19th to Sept. 25th 2011

This report is for the period September 19th to September 25th, 2011.

Sit down. Brace yourself. I have a shocking bit of news for you.

Gears of War 3 dominated this week's chart. I understand this is an unexpected turn of events as we all thought Supremacy MMA would be number one.

Games Started
51,933 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 77,431 games between them (1,471 different games).

Number one comes as no surprise, but the sheer number of gamers that picked up Gears of War 3 during its first week is like nothing we have ever seen during all the months of TA Stats postings. Resident Evil 4 HD (Xbox 360) made a great debut for a $20 Games on Demand only title.

The Gunstringer has picked up a little steam, perhaps through word of mouth. L.A. Noire, with over 42,000 total gamers, is finally slowing down and about to drop from the top spots in the next week or two.

Top Retail Games Started

Bolstered by a recent sale, ilomilo makes a sudden reappearance after months away from the top of the chart. The top 4 spots all belong to recent titles, with none of them putting up Summer of Arcade numbers. It's back to Triple-A retail titles for the average gamer.

Top Arcade Games Started

Implode! (WP) is the latest release to take the top spot during its first week on the marketplace. Collapse! (WP) will appear on this chart each time there's a major gamerscore contest taking place. If any games is to achieve a 100% completion rate, it's that game.

Top Windows Phone 7 Games Started

Games Completed
5,385 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 7,431 games between them (952 different games).

This list looks awfully familiar. I don't see any major changes for any of these titles in the next few weeks, assuming of course that the upcoming releases are all just as hard as expected. I doubt https://www.trueachievements.com/DARK-SOULS-xbox-360.htm is going to turn out to be a cakewalk and we all know how long Gears of War 3 is going to take.

Top Retail Games Completed

Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 and Fruit Ninja Kinect both got the DLC bump. Worms 2: Armageddon sticks out as the odd man out of this list. I'll assume it was on sale somewhat recently, as I don't see too many people deciding to finish off the older Worms title in advance of https://www.trueachievements.com/Worms-Ultimate-Mayhem-....htm coming out.

Top Arcade Games Completed

Collaspe! again takes the spot. The simpler, less mine-filled version of Minesweeper (WP) is again towards the top with no signs of ever going away thanks to its free status.

Top Windows Phone 7 Games Completed

Achievements Won
71,532 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 1,221,678 achievements online between them (36,047 different achievements).

Nothing unexpected here, except perhaps the order of their popularity. The thought of over 30,000 gamers unlocking the same achievements during the same week is unbelievable given what these numbers tend to look like during a normal week.

Top Retail Achievements Won

The arcade chart, as usual, shows some real variety. The numbers are significantly lower this week from what they were like just one month ago, but very soon I expect to see this chart dominated by achievements from both Dungeon Defenders and Orcs Must Die! which both the hit arcade this month.

Top Arcade Achievements Won

History is made once again in the WP7 chart, as every single achievement name has an unneeded ! in it. Little surprised that Implode! did not have a clean sweep of the chart.

Total TrueAchievements won by Genre

Welcome to week one of Shootergeddon. Don't you worry, we have just a little bit longer to wait before Elder Scrolls: Skyrim hits and reclaims the top spot for RPG.
