The much maligned post-disaster survival game I Am Alive
finally has a “where” and a “when”, as it is set to arrive on Xbox LIVE Arcade this winter, according to Ubisoft. We got a trailer and new screenshots to go along with Ubisoft’s announcement. It’s really coming!
I Am Alive
is described as an “everyman’s journey” as you set off to find your wife and daughter who went missing after the “Event”. Like most post-apocalyptic worlds, every inhabitant of it will do what it takes to survive. The protagonist will have to deal with such people, as well as many environmental obstacles in a city falling apart. You’ll have to scale large buildings in search of precious supplies. The resource management in the game is critical, and you’ll have to manage them wisely if you’re to find your family. A unique feature to the combat system is the use of intimidation. Cowardly enemies can be warded off by pointing an empty gun at them, while others will put up a fight. You’ll need to weigh out what resources are needed for battle.
First announced as a retail title at E3 2008, the game has gone on-and-off the radar for several years. There had been speculation early this year that it would indeed arrive on XBLA, but as the months passed most probably assumed it was forgotten. Then some undated leaked gameplay footage
, and most recently an ESRB rating
, showed strong signs of I Am Alive
emerging from the cloud of dust. I Am Alive
is coming sometime this winter.
