Deep Silver are busy people. Not only have they just published Dead Island (Xbox 360)
, but they are also set to publish upcoming Kinect-enabled winter sports game Winter Stars
, and RPG sequel Risen 2: Dark Waters
. Now they have another game to add to their proposed portfolio - Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?: Special Editions
Not surprisingly, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?: Special Editions
is based on the hit TV show and retains the traditional show format. Players will first take part in the fastest finger round, with the successful player taking the chair. Then follow the increasingly difficult questions as players strive for the top prize. The three traditional lifelines - Fifty-Fifty, Ask The Audience, and Phone-A-Friend - will be available to aid struggling gamers. If single-player is not your thing, up to four friends or family members can compete in local play, although speed is the key to getting the highest score here. Online leaderboards will also see players trying to better their friends' scores.
The one thing that will make this game stand out though is the addition of "special licensed question packs" based on films, TV and more. These will be available as DLC, and the first pack will be released alongside the main game. If I told you that Doublesix Digital, the developers responsible for South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play!
, were holding the development reigns, then it wouldn't surprise you to learn that the first pack will be centred on South Park
The pack will include hundreds of questions based on all 15 seasons of the hit cartoon TV show, as well as a themed studio, South Park
introduction, special game show host and audience members based on South Park
characters. There will be five new player avatars "especially designed by the South Park Team", and the Phone-a-Friend lifeline will feature the cartoon characters too.
A release date is yet to be confirmed for the game.
