TA Gaming Stats - Oct 10th to Oct 16th 2011

By Dog of Thunder, 7 years ago
Welcome to another exciting week of large impressive numbers! This week we see the incredible rise of Forza Motorsport 4 and the grand debut of Guardian Heroes.

This report is for the period October 10th to October 16th 2011.

Games Started
36,251 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 57,301 games between them (1,439 different games).

Forza Motorsport 4 has met the community's expectations and taken the top spot pretty easily. RAGE is holding fast and has now passed the 10,000 gamer mark. I fully expect RAGE to settle in between 20,000 and 30,000 gamers. Dark Souls may not have broken 10,000 gamers yet, but with over 7,000 gamers, that is still a great number for something being sold as "masochistic."

Gears of War 3 finally shows signs of slowing down, but since it is over 60,000 gamers in total already, "slow down" is a relative term. FIFA 12 joins RAGE as it too has broken 10,000 gamers this week. Crysis keeps plugging along, not being stopped by its status as a Game on Demand.

All that good news has been leading up to the not so good numbers, namely, Dead Rising 2: Off The Record (Xbox 360). Ooph, did this game land with a "DUD". That's right, not a "THUD" but a "DUD"; Dead Rising 2 (Xbox 360) has over 33,000 gamers and within the span of one week, I am sure it had greatly exceeded even 5,000 gamers. Dead Rising 2: Off the Record has an uphill battle to stay relevant in today's gaming landscape.

Can we expect similar from the upcoming Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in that it is shunned by fans of the original title?

Guardian Heroes is one of the best beat'em ups I have ever played. NBA JAM: On Fire Edition and Orcs Must Die! are close on the weekly chart, and even with the overall numbers, as both are at just over 1,100 total gamers. Two totally different games yet they are experiencing the same trajectory.

Shadow Complex may have done better during its last sale, but when an arcade title is already owned by over 33,000 community members, well, there's not too many gamers left that will buy it at that point.

Top Arcade Games Started

Collapse! (WP) is finally dropping down the chart, while the recent European free release of Sudoku (WP) will cause it to rise during the next few weeks.

iBlast Moki (WP) gets a Deal of the Week boost and claims the top spot, while I wonder what led Flowerz (WP) to add nearly 100 new gamers to its total.

Top Windows Phone 7 Games Started

Games Completed
5,307 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 7,300 games between them (933 different games).

Dragon Age II gets a boost from another DLC chapter, while I remain impressed at the rising number of gamers finishing off Dead Island (Xbox 360). RAGE is pretty high for a recent release, but given the hardcore nature of our community I should not be shocked to see those numbers.

Fallout: New Vegas got a small bump from DLC, though part of me wonders if it is also from gamers trying to finish off their latest RPG before Skyrim arrives. I know that's at least why The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has clocked in at number nine.

Top Retail Games Completed

Way to not finish arcade titles this week guys (and girls, I blame all of you equally). First place has under 100 completions? Yeah, it's Torchlight, which now has a very un-RPG like 33% completion rate. Still, the overall arcade completion numbers are very low this week.

I am impressed by the 44 that finished off Guardian Heroes as I'm dreading the Hard run with only one credit. Does Dead Rising 2: Case Zero and Dead Rising 2: Case West showing up here have anything to do with Dead Rising 2: Off the Record coming out this week?

Top Arcade Games Completed

Full House Poker (WP) and Minesweeper (WP) managed to tie, with each just one behind Collapse! (WP7). This chart needs some shaking up, though iBlast Moki (WP7) did blast its way back on thanks to the aforementioned sale.

Top Windows Phone 7 Games Completed

Achievements Won
68,696 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 829,189 achievements online between them (36,904 different achievements).

Forza Motorsport 4 was pretty darn popular this week; it is safe to say that the Gears of War 3 dominance on this chart is already over.

Guardian Heroes nearly pulled off a clean sweep, except that pesky https://www.trueachievements.com/Pinball-FX2-xbox-360.htm just had to go and break it up. On a slightly related note, was anyone else amused to see the final boss from Gunstar Heroes in Guardian Heroes?

Top Arcade Achievements Won

What, were you expecting to see Women's Murder Club (WP)?

Top Windows Phone 7 Achievements Won

Due to technical difficulties, the genre chart is not available this week. However, all of you that guessed Racing would overtake RPG for this week were exactly right as the two swapped spots from last week's chart.
