Netflix has sure been making a lot of news lately. First came the new price structure
, then the splitting
of the streaming and disc-based services, and finally backtracking
on that split.
Looking to expand their reach and put the bad press behind them, Netflix announced today that they will be offering streaming services to the UK and Ireland starting in "early 2012". So far the details are a bit scarce, and pricing, content and supported devices will be announced closer to launch. Presumably the Xbox 360 would be one of those devices as it is a marquee feature for the console in North America.
There is no word yet as to whether the disc-by-mail or the announced game rental
service will be offered either.
Currently operating in the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean, Netflix allows users to stream thousands of TV shows and movies with a broadband connection and a monthly subscription fee.
Stay tuned for further details as we get closer to the 2012 launch of Netflix in the UK and Ireland.
