Days ago we brought you the news
that this year's Spike TV Video Game Awards will serve as the reveal for the next installment in the Alan Wake
franchise. As was leaked by XBLAFans.com
in May, the game will be called Alan Wake's Night Springs
. Game Informer
has released the exclusive first image.
Immediately after the official announcement, Bright Falls aficionados everywhere grew collectively outraged at the downloadable format of the game, fearing an arcade release may affect the game's prospects. However, on the official Alan Wake forums
, Remedy's Community Manager, Peter Papadopoulos, assured fans that the game will play like a retail title and he asked fans to wait until they see more of it before judging the game's merits. The CEO of Remedy, Markus Mäki, also had this to say:
If you're thinking about this in terms of some kind of a, I don't know, super simplified 'we still use the name but changed everything about it' version of Alan Wake, let me just say that this is not the case. That's all I'm gonna say.
There's a lot to point out in the new screenshot. Alan has ditched the elbow pads in favor of a Twin Peaks
look. The road he is on is definitely not in Bright Falls either, and the weapon in his hand - is that a nail gun? What does Remedy have up their sleeve?
Look for the official unveiling of Alan Wake's Night Springs
this December 10th on the Spike TV Video Game Awards.
