George R.R. Martin's fantasy epic, A Song of Ice and Fire
, has gone from a series of acclaimed novels to an HBO series named after the first book in the series, A Game of Thrones
. Set in a world where seasons will last for years and filled to the brim with political intrigue, the A Song of Ice and Fire
novels are deep tomes requiring a flowchart to keep track of alliances. I love these novels, so when the latest Atlus newsletter revealed that the company responsible for Ogre Battle
would be publishing Game of Thrones
for the Xbox 360, well, I may have screamed like a schoolgirl.
Some key selling points for a game that I am already pre-ordering as I type this:
With an original story written under the supervision of George R. R. Martin, Game of Thrones is going to be a interactive role playing experience published by Atlus. Advertised game features will include:Game of Thrones
-Multiple playable characters which have intertwining storylines in which decisions from one character will affect storylines of other characters
-A new storyline putting players in the shoes of two former soldiers of Robert's Rebellion who have chosen different paths that unite under common interests.
-A ongoing war and politics scheme where fighting slows but never stops entirely, forcing the player to make quick, pressured choices before their enemies strike again.
will be spinning in my Xbox 360 in early 2012.
