The Simpsons Arcade Coming to XBLA? [Rumor]

By Mark Delaney, 5 years ago
One of the most revered side-scrolling beat-'em-ups ever, The Simpsons arcade game, may be coming to the downloadable market reports XBLAfans.com. They received a tip from a reader that the game was recently rated by an Australian ratings board, which seems to indicate a re-release is on the horizon.

It should be noted that the guys at XBLAfans.com have previously revealed the news that Gotham City Impostors and Alan Wake's Night Springs were in development, prior to any other gaming news outlet knowing they existed. So they seem to have a reputable track record with this sort of thing. We should have expected this release anyways as other prolific arcade classics like http://www.trueachievements.com/XMEN-xbox-360.htm and http://www.trueachievements.com/game.aspx?gameid=1244 have been given the XBLA treatment too.

Originally released in 1991 by Konami, the game was recently the top response to a Konami Facebook poll asking which classic fans would like to be re-released. Perhaps gamers have got their wish. Here's some gameplay of The Simpsons to refresh your memory.

We'll be following this story closely and we'll be sure to cover its official announcement if these rumors are true.
