Avalanche Studios, the Swedish developer behind Just Cause and Just Cause 2, has confirmed that it is currently developing a new AAA title, codenamed Project Mamba.
At this time, the development team is giving very little away regarding the nature or type of game we can expect. However, with an expected release in 2014, it seems that Project Mamba will not make an appearance until the next generation of consoles comes to market.
Although those involved have been fairly tight-lipped on Project Mamba, the same individuals have not been shy in unveiling the new 10,000 square-foot, New York studio which will house the development team.
Avalanche Studios founder, Christofer Sundberg had the following to say about the independent developer's fight to make things happen, even despite the recent global economic crisis:
...we have achieved yet another goal by establishing a new studio in the greatest city in North America. We are one of the few independent, AAA-budget studios remaining in the world after the disastrous economic recession of the last few years. While this was a huge wake-up call for everyone in our industry, we have prepared for this expansion for over three years and it is a great feeling to execute our plans with such resounding successOne thing we do know for certain at the present time is that former Activision and Atari executive, David Grijns, is leading the development of Project Mamba. There's not much to go on just now, we know, but rest assured when more details come to light we'll being them to your attention!
