XBLA Wednesday: November 30th, 2011 [UPDATE]

By Mark Delaney, 7 years ago
Edit 3: Iron Brigade has now hit the European marketplace. However, Scene It? Movie Night appears to be restricted to the US only; this is the first time that I've ever seen a game restricted to a single marketplace, although I know that's not of any consolation whatsoever. We'll let you know if this changes.

Edit 2: Despite the indications given out by all of the press releases to date, Scene It?: Movie Night has only been released in North America. European gamers will also be disappointed to find that Iron Brigade is yet to appear on the marketplace too. There is still time though, and games have been known to arrive late into the day. We'll let you know if the situation changes.

Edit: A third game was brought to my attention, thanks to eViL mOnKeY 270.

Iron Brigade - 1200 MSP

The game formerly known as Trenched in the US and that was delayed in Europe will finally be coming to the European download market, bringing with it a name change across all regions. The name "Trenched" ran into some legal trouble due to another property already using that name, so the game will now be known as Iron Brigade everywhere when a title update comes to the game alongside this week's release.

Protect humanity from the evil Monovision menace in this Tower Defense Shooter from Tim Schafer’s Double Fine Productions. Join The Mobile Trench Brigade! Use a combination of mobile firepower and stationary defenses to turn the tide of war in our favor. Customize your trench with thousands of possible loadouts. March side by side with allies from around the world as you fight your way through Europe, Africa, and the Pacific. The Mobile Trench Brigade. Walk with us.

This week's XBLA offerings include two very different titles. One game is an epic, galactic struggle putting you in control of the Lions and Voltron to save the world from the malicious Robeasts led by King Zarkon, and the other game...is movie trivia.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe - 800 MSP

Play as the Space Explorers, Lions, and Voltron in Voltron: Defender of the Universe for PSN and XBox Live! Voltron: Defender of the Universe is a re-mastered Voltron experience with high definition graphics, multiple gameplay types and a co-operative mode that lets you re-live the most defining moments from the classic 80’s series - the discovery of the Lions, the very first time the Space Explorers form Voltron, and an epic battle against the evil forces of King Zarkon in a quest for justice and galactic peace.

The game will offer both couch co-op as well as five-player online co-op for those of you looking for a new game to team up with friends in.

Scene It?: Movie Night - 800 MSP

Available for download on Xbox LIVE on 11/30/11 - features full-screen, HD movie scenes with dynamic film trivia challenges in a party game setting. Players watch film clips and answer detailed questions, or fill in missing dialogue and solve visual puzzles. Fourteen different puzzle types keep the excitement going for everyone, from casual movie buffs to diehard film fanatics. Each round ends with a rapid-fire "Quick Pitch" battle, during which you can win the game—or lose it all—in one thrilling, button-mashing finale! Throw a Scene It? Movie Night party! Invite your friends over to determine your crowd's movie trivia champion.

Those of you feeling neglected by the Europe-only release of last week's Who Wants to be a Millionaire?: Special Editions may find comfort in the fact that this trivia game is only available in North America. The game will also offer multiple DLC packs, the first of which will focus on summer blockbusters and epics, titled "Mega Movies". On its way after will be a Sci-Fi pack. Those are the only two announced for now, but the trailer indicates there will be more to come as well.
