TA Gaming Stats - November 2011

By Dog of Thunder, 7 years ago
No one cares what I have to say here, so let's get right to the point. You want to see the damage done by the heaviest month of releases in recorded history.

This report is for the period November 1st to November 30th 2011.

Games Started
104,759 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 294,605 games between them (1,695 different games).

Read the above. Go ahead. I will wait.

Back? Good. So you noticed that the community started just under 300,000 new titles this month alone. No need to check, that is a new record. How did this break down amongst the top releases of November?

Considering it had the "largest entertainment launch in history", Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is number one. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is number two, but given the actual gaming activity Bethesda's latest has had recently it may just surpass Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in the long run.

Battlefield 3 kept things moving after a late October release. Upcoming DLC will help support it in the coming weeks as well. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary only lost the number three spot by 13 gamers. So you, yes you, you have Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary on your shelf don't you? See what happens when you let games sit, unplayed and unloved? They lose a meaningless spot on a chart that only tens of thousands of gamers will see.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations and Saints Row: The Third are running tight together. Given the numbers put up by both of these franchises, we'll see them sticking together for the foreseeable future.

After a clear drop in numbers, we get to past releases such as Batman: Arkham City (Xbox 360) and Gears of War 3 mingling with the recent, yet overlooked Sonic Generations, RAGE and Forza Motorsport 4.

Past that grouping, we enter the realm of the under-performing: GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Need for Speed: The Run, WWE '12 and The Lord of the Rings: War in the North. Did all of these suffer from being released this month? All of them do have between 2,000 and 3,000 gamers, but given the expectations for most of them that is a disappointment.

Not disappointing? Dark Souls broke 10k gamers, Dead Island (Xbox 360) is nearing 30k gamers and FIFA 12 broke 14k gamers.

The numbers here are much less interesting. The top arcade game, Super Meat Boy, was on sale, but even then it would be out of the top 20 retail titles. LIMBO (Xbox 360), Ms. Splosion Man and Pinball FX2 (Xbox 360) finished close behind in a very tight cluster of games that also were on sale.

Daytona USA debuted in late October, which means that the highest new release for the month of November is Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Special Editions (EU).

It is amazing that the rest of the chart were either on sale, such as Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, or were under-performing new titles available for $10, such as Zombie Apocalypse: Never Die Alone and Fusion: Genesis.

The outlier here is Dungeon Defenders, which appears to be gaining slightly due to positive word of mouth.

Due to the issue with the renaming of the WP titles, these games will not appear in this posting.

Games Completed
15,882 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 31,383 games between them (1,347 different games).

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are all on this chart. How cool is that?

Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed: Revelations, along with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, round out the list of franchise stablemates. Personally I believe that Halo: Reach and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary also count, but given the nature of the MP, some may disagree.

Regardless, we can all agree that more gamers completing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim than NCIS is just.....strange.

Seriously, who has yet to complete UNO (Xbox 360)? Or Dash of Destruction for that matter? Why did all of the Doritos games show up this month!?

Oh right, nearly every completion here is a quick, easy 200 GS.

Hey you! Yes you, the guy living under a rock. Do you know you can save 15% on car insurance in 15 minutes or less? Do you also know which two games everyone was playing during the past month?

This is more like it! Seven different titles!

Those of you unlocking some of the easiest achievements in Pinball FX 2 should be warned that the majority of the achievements are very, very hard. Enjoy the easy points while you can!

Total TrueAchievements won by Genre

60,000,667 TA in Shooters alone. That's just over 60 MILLION TA earned in one genre. In fact, more of these numbers are of the mind-boggling variety. As a community, it is very, very clear that TA is comprised of hardcore gamers. Who can argue with over a million points earned in Adventure titles in one month?
