While shopping for your avatar may not be at the top of your MSP spending priorities, perhaps this new charitable event will change your tone. From now until December 16th, all proceeds from the sale of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
avatar items will go to the Call of Duty Endowment
. This is according to Dan Amrich's OneOfSwords blog
What's the Call of Duty Endowment? It's a "non-profit public benefit corporation which helps soldiers transition to civilian careers after their military service." So basically, it helps veterans get jobs. The foundation was created by Activision Blizzard in 2009, with an advisory board of respected veterans to help oversee operations. Activision has already pledged millions, including a contribution of $3 million dollars on Veteran's Day (November 11th in the U.S.).
If you want to salute those who serve, you can make a purchase from the Modern Warfare 3 Avatar Marketplace
. Two new items have been added to the marketplace recently: American Special Forces and Special Ops Juggernaut. Previously these items have only been available through Amazon pre-orders and the Hardened Edition, respectively. There are lots of other choices too, some for as low as 80 MSP.
Again, purchases made before the Dec. 16th will go towards the Call of Duty Endowment.
