Hello and welcome to another week of game stats. Dog of Thunder
had somewhere else to be this weekend (it was important, believe me) so this is Matrarch
taking the helm for the second time ever.
I apologize in advance. This report is for the period January 2nd to January 8th 2012
25,968 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 39,654 games between them (1,490 different games).
If The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
has proven one thing, it's that it has an impressive amount of staying power, spending yet another week at the top of the chart. One has to wonder how long this dominance will last, though. Retail releases are slow now, so this hold could last a while, perhaps even through to the now very crowded March 6th. This date will see the release of Mass Effect 3
, Silent Hill HD Collection
and others, though https://www.trueachievements.com/Kingdoms-of-Amalur-Rec....htm
may have a word to say about that.
The top seven essentially remained the same (aside from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
and Assassin's Creed: Revelations
switching places). The bottom three sees quite a shake-up as everyone seems to have started their Kinect titles during the last week. Rayman Origins
managed to sneak back on after brief absences, but Dead Island (Xbox 360)
's return after nearly a month-long absence is probably the most impressive story here.Top Retail Games Started
Last week's new Arcade title, NFL Blitz
, debuts at number two this week, which is impressive considering almost every other game on the chart this week was either on sale (Burnout CRASH!
, Fruit Ninja Kinect
, Bastion (Xbox 360)
, and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
) or free (Fruit Ninja Kinect
if you had the token from https://www.trueachievements.com/The-Gunstringer-xbox-3....htm
, Kinect Fun Labs: Battle Stuff
, and Kinect Fun Labs: Kinect Me
). The lone title that didn't get any of those benefits was Sonic CD
, which is a testament to either people's nostalgia as a driving point behind game sales or a lesson in why 400 MSP is a totally valid price point.Top Arcade Games StartedZ0MB1ES (on teh ph0ne) (WP)
had a very solid debut, as it would have challenged for one of the top spots even if it was an Arcade game. Also, this week saw the return of Sally's Salon: Luxury Edition (WP)
, but that's to be expected as the title was last week's Deal of the Week
The rest of the week sees nothing especially surprising, so we're going to move on to the next chart.Top Windows Phone Games StartedGames Completed
6,620 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 9,547 games between them (1,079 different games).
Dog predicted last week that we'd likely see NCIS
place for a second week due to the GTASC, and you know what? He was right. Also, returning to top this chart is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
. While the number of people completing it is still fairly low (less than 8%), the gap between the number of people starting Skyrim
and the number of people finishing it within the week has shrunk considerably.
Then again, Skyrim's
completion percentage is much higher than Battlefield 3
's miniscule 1.14%, so congrats to those of you who joined that club this week.Top Retail Games Completed
I really want to think that score challenges make you do it, but no. Your persistence in making the various Kinect Fun Labs
gadgets and Harms Way
appear in this top ten lead me to believe you all really love your easy gamerscore, which is fine. Bastion
is once again helped out by a recent sale, as is Deathspank
and UNO (Xbox 360)

Confession time. Like Dog, I'm not a Windows Phone owner, but come this March, I plan to change that and pick up my score-earning pace. I'd like to thank all you WP owners for making my choice in titles much easier by getting your completions on these charts so I can avoid the games with glitched achievements.
All of these games, with the exception of Farm Frenzy 2 (WP)
, have a completion percentage of higher than 20%. That all may change, however, with the recent fix
to the game's final achievement. We'll see how that plays out in the following weeks. I also want to point out that Collapse! (WP)
is one of the top ten games on the site in terms of completion percentage. It must be an honor to share that distinction with the likes of https://www.trueachievements.com/Avatar-The-Burning-Ear....htm

72,699 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 856,523 achievements online between them (41,632 different achievements).
I wanted to write some witty statement about the appearance of only The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
achievements in this space, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

The newly released NFL Blitz
does steal away a couple of spots on this chart, but the majority of these spaces goes to games that were recently discounted. Discounts or not, I feel like Fruit Ninja Kinect
always manages to cling tenaciously to one or two of these spots, despite being released waaaaay back in the Summer (hey, that's a long time for a non-free game to stick around). Of course, a couple of DLC packs, sales and its inclusion as a free title with The Gunstringer
have helped, but it's still impressive!Top Arcade Achievements Won

Action-Adventure continues its hold on the chart, and other than Action and Sports switching places, the chart remains unchanged. January is a quiet month for game releases, so I imagine we're likely to see this general order for a couple more weeks at least.
Thanks for letting me once again take the reigns on the weekly stat post. You'll all be returned to your regularly scheduled infusion of Dog's take on the weekly stats next week!
