Alan Wake's American Nightmare Gameplay Demo

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has always rightfully focused more on electronics as a whole, rather than just gaming. Because of this, not a whole lot of news comes out of the event for us gamers. However, today on Spike TV, Remedy's Oskari Häkkinen, the Head of Franchise Development, joined Geoff Keighley to discuss the upcoming spinoff/semi-sequel to Alan Wake and they even showed off the first glimpse of the story mode.

They also chatted about how Remedy's game could mark the beginning of a new era for the XBLA market. The technology of American Nightmare is actually improved from the original game, says Häkkinen. Towards the conclusion of the video, he gets very enthusiastic about giving fans more of these bite-size Wake games if the first one is well-received.

Rumor has it (emphasis on the rumor, for now) that the House Party line-up of games will release in the same order as they are presented in the trailer, which would make American Nightmare's release date February 15th, the official kickoff of XBLA House Party. As always, when further news breaks, we'll bring it to you.

Until then, double check the batteries in your flashlights.
