New Top Gun: Hard Lock Screens and Details

By Jonathan Barnes, 4 years ago
Remember June, when things were still green, the sun came out periodically, people wore less clothing, and we gave you clearance to buzz the tower by announcing http://www.trueachievements.com/Top-Gun-Hard-Lock-xbox-....htm? Those were good times.

Fortunately, the developers at Headstrong Games and their publisher 505 Games, are ready to bring you back to those memories, and perhaps delve a bit further into the days when men could play beach volleyball in jeans, aviator shades... and nothing else.

To get your mind off of that grisly scene, the aforementioned parties have dropped some new screenshots for Hard Lock as well as some details about the gameplay.

The big appeal of Hard Lock is the "Hard Lock Mode" which will allow players to engage the enemy during dogfights. This mode will enable them to lock on to targets, unleash their arsenal of destruction, while (at the same time, mind you!) going through a catalog of aerial moves that would make Dick Grayson jealous. These moves include barrel rolls, Immelmans, loop-the-loops and hard banks.

The single-player campaign will feature 15 missions across various settings. These missions will be set in the Top Gun universe but given a modern day setting and a fresh batch of new Top Gun graduates

Hard Lock will also feature "Danger Zone Mode", which is basically a single-player Horde/Firefight mode... in the sky! As can be expected, exceptional flying will be rewarded with medals, trophies, achievements, and unlockable content.

Fortunately, fans of multiplayer will also have three distinct modes that can accommodate up to 16 players. As can be expected, Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch will be offered. Co-op fans will have three separate missions: Carrier Strike, Base Defense, and Aircraft Escort. These missions can utilize up to four players in a base defense mode against waves of incoming enemy AI units.

Headstrong is hoping to tie all of these elements together with an intuitive and unique control scheme that will make pulling off aerial combat easy and satisfying.

Finally, and possibly most-importantly, Hard Lock will feature numerous customization options for each plane, so that you can customize your bird (including top-end fighters like the F14D Super Tomcat, F22 Raptor and F/A-18F Super Hornet) just like the Aces did "back-in-the-day".
