Studio HIVE isn't a name that is well-associated with the Xbox 360. In fact, it isn't a name known for the development of video games at all, with the studio only really known for providing concept art and illustrations for projects such as Front Mission Evolved
. Now they are taking a step in a different direction. The studio has secured the videogame license for the next film in the Ong-Bak series.
The multiplatform game will be set in the Ong-Bak universe and is being developed in collaboration with Sahamongkol Film International, the current holder of the Ong-Bak license. Unfortunately, further details are yet to be revealed.
Kan Supabanpot, Studio HIVE's General Manager stated:
It's a great honour for our team to work on the very first Ong-Bak multiplatform game. As a Thai development studio we love the movie and have a deep understanding of the Ong-Bak brand values and we make sure that the videogame will be an inspiring martial arts action experience for gamers.
The game is due to be released in 2012.
