Resident Evil 6 Details Emerge

By Jonathan Barnes, 6 years ago
Yesterday evening, Capcom blew some collective minds by announcing and showing off the slick reveal trailer. Being the biggest story of the gaming day, we thought you might like some more details on the upcoming experience.

Resident Evil 6 will take place ten years after the Raccoon City incident. The President of the United States has decided that it's time to tell the public the truth and let them know exactly what happened in Raccoon City in the hopes that it will curb the resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Enter Leon Kennedy, personal friend of the president and Raccoon City survivor. Leon is scheduled to join the President when he makes his speech. As you can expect, things don't go as planned.

The President's venue is hit by a bioterrorist attack and Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and "make his hardest decision ever".

In a separate story happening at the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, which is under threat of its own bioterrorist attack. The constant, world-wide assaults unite the entire planet in the common fear that there is no hope left.

Capcom is promising that Resident Evil 6 will see Leon and Chris joined by new characters who each have their own unique perspective and involvement.

Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing for Capcom, commented with the following:

Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series. The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world.
Hiroyuki Kobayashi, Resident Evil 6 Executive Producer added:

From the outset the team’s intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror. We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers.
Finally, Capcom has confirmed that all of your favorite retailers will be getting exclusive pre-order bonuses: GameStop, Best Buy and will each get an exclusive map that will function with various modes in the game. More details on the specifics surrounding these maps will be coming soon.

Resident Evil 6 is set for release on November 20th, 2012.
