As you may be aware the approval process for title updates, patches and DLC isn't what one may describe as 'rapid' on Xbox LIVE. It has been revealed however that the upcoming Minecraft
will be set to receive rapid deployment of updates to help keep the title moving along at the pace the title requires.
4J Studio's Chief Technology Officer Paddy Burns detailed how cooperative Microsoft had been on the issue:
Microsoft knows that to do a similar thing that's on PC where they constantly update it, that's a very difficult thing to do on Xbox because you have to go through the full tests. But they are quite keen to move towards that - they do see it as the future, so I think we might be the first to do constant updates.
It's suspected that updates will not be an exception to Microsoft's stringent testing and certification procedures, but that efforts could be made to bring updates to the title at least every other month. As it stands the title is set to launch on a Beta 1.6.6 codebase.
