TA Gaming Stats - Feb 6th to Feb 12th 2012

By Dog of Thunder, 6 years ago
As excited as I was last week for new games, this week I'm even more excited!

This report is for the period February 6th to February 12th 2012.

Games Started
21,996 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 33,079 games between them (1,476 different games).

Both Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and The Darkness II made an immediate impact. It is not quite as large an impact as their publishers may have liked to see, but right on pace with fellow 2012 retail releases, Final Fantasy XIII-2 (5,612 total gamers) and SoulCalibur V (5,323 total gamers).

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is getting a second wind due to worldwide availability. Here's a fun stat fact for you regarding the total number of gamers that started Metal Gear Solid HD:

Metal Gear Solid HD total gamers: 5,450
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD total gamers: 2,603

Considering both games come in one bundle, that's a very interesting disparity.

Gotham City Impostors is your new number one XBLA title. The poor title, Shank 2, that had to share a release date with that particular juggernaut also made the chart. Let's just say Gotham City Impostors is significantly more popular and move on.

Between The Simpsons Arcade and NBA JAM: On Fire Edition, we're only a roller rink away from re-enacting my childhood.

When people saw that Collapse! (WP) was going to be on sale last week, I started receiving messages. People were concerned for me as they knew just how popular this game was going to be, since it is essentially nothing but pure gamerscore. While some may say that is pure awesome, we'll see later just how many lazy people bought that game and failed to finish it.

Top Windows Phone Games Started

Games Completed
6,481 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 9,233 games between them (1,077 different games).

Final Fantasy XIII-2 or as I like to call it, Final Fantasy XIII-II, was finished by 184 gamers during its first week of release? That's insane.

The Darkness II has also been completed by a significant portion of those that have started it, roughly 20% to be exact. Can you say "roughly" and then "exact" in the same sentence? Does that make sense? What do I know, I have a degree in history and barely passed algebra 101.

I feel like I'm forgetting something on this chart. There is a game I need to mention but can't quite recall just what it is I need to talk about regarding completions. I'm sure it will come to me later.

Top Retail Games Completed

Despite how often we see Bastion (Xbox 360) on this chart, just under 30% of those that have started the TrueAchievement XBLA Game of 2011, have finished it.

Other then that, take a gander at just how low these completion numbers have been for the past week. It only took 23 completions for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Special Editions (EU) to chart? I almost feel like a fool for thinking that the Great TrueAchievement Score Marathon would have an impact on these charts.

Top Arcade Games Completed

Now that Bug Village (WP) has been patched, we'll see it for a few weeks as more and more get around to wrapping up the grind.

BulletAsylum (WP) also proved to be a popular completion, in proportion to how many bought it of course, despite being a SHMUP (Shoot'Em Up) title.

The oddest inclusion on this list is, of course, Toy Soldiers: Boot Camp (WP). Why is that odd you ask? Well, the fact that it isn't even out until February 29th makes it a bit odd.

Top Windows Phone Games Completed

Achievements Won
57,075 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 650,216 achievements online between them (41,586 different achievements).

Again, the two newest releases dominate the chart and they don't even have any popular achievements unlocked in an odd order. This chart is simply business as usual.

Top Retail Achievements Won

"Thanks for playing!" isn't a thank you for playing Gotham City Impostors, it's a punishment. Finish one online match and now you just have to go ahead and keep playing to get all the achievements.

Top Arcade Achievements Won

I fully expected to see nothing but Collapse! on this chart. I may have seen that if only those lazy people that have yet to finish the game had bothered to play it at all.

Top Windows Phone Achievements Won

Total TrueAchievements won by Genre

After a few weeks of back and forth amongst the top three genres, they have now settled back into their natural order.

  • Shooter5,363,314
  • Role-Playing4,616,495
  • Action-Adventure4,378,844
  • Action2,259,555
  • Sports1,459,905
  • Racing985,904
  • Platformer524,416
  • Music and Rhythm386,097
  • Puzzle378,243
  • Party293,922

That's incredible. I just made it through an entire stats posting without once mentioning The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Oh well, now I have to go kill a kitten.
