Upcoming Kinect Nat Geo TV
is a Microsoft/National Geographic venture aimed more at the kids and family play than adults. In a recent PR release, Microsoft gave details on the experience. It's a TV show coupled with Kinect capabilities which is admittedly quite novel:
Kinect Nat Geo TV blends world-renowned Nat Geo WILD TV programs with intuitive Kinect for Xbox 360 technology, transporting children and their families to animal habitats around the world to inspire a sense of wonder and excitement about nature. Through the magic of Kinect “reach in and explore” interactivity, kids do more than just watch television — they will engage, play and learn using their full bodies, gestures and voices.
You'll be able to "develop naturalist skills, learn about the environment and get to know wild animals". The experience will be delivered via 30-minute TV episodes which will incorporate visual cues to show that viewers can dive off in a related experience.
Families play and learn together as “Kinect Nat Geo TV” turns living rooms into forests and transforms kids into animals with “Go WILD” role-play games. “Kinect Nat Geo TV” will also provide access to archived episodes of Nat Geo WILD TV programs through Kinect.
We also have some screens for you which might help better show how this will all come together and work on your console.
This will be available as of September 2012.
