JAM Live Music Arcade Announced for XBLA

The development team at Zivix, who specializes in music games, and has released music games for the PC and Wii, have announced a new game for Xbox LIVE Arcade that will allow you to control all aspects of music. JAM Live Music Arcade is the developer's rookie effort for XBLA. The game will feature 32 tracks from bestselling artists to "top-touring indie bands". Though the official track list has not yet been revealed, they did hint at a few inclusions like Modest Mouse, Fallout Boy, Fatboy Slim, Rise Against, Atmosphere, and more.

The game will also be compatible with "any of the millions" of music gaming peripherals or your regular Xbox 360 controller. It's greatest selling point, however, is the ability to take the songs and remix them any way you'd like, including guitar, bass, drums, synth, and vocals to create new, unique remixes you can call your own. The game will also support user-generated content so you can upload your songs online for others to download and play.

The game's arcade mode sounds like an evolved gameplay of the usual stream of notes music gamers would be used to, but it puts more emphasis on things such as up-strumming and using the whammy bar. The developers also promise the game will focus more on improvisation and musical exploration, rather than high scores.

The game is said to have a "near-infinite" supply of sounds, effects, and rhythms. No pricing information has been announced, but you can look for it on the download market sometime this year.
