The Walking Dead's New Screens Are Full of Despair

By Mark Delaney, 4 years ago
To date, we TA Newshounds have steered clear of a lot of news for Telltale Games' The Walking Dead because the game's platforms have not yet been announced. Previous episodic games of theirs, like the Back to the Future series, never made it to XBLA. However, the developer more recently has started saying the game will be available on "all major gaming platforms", so, for now, we have to believe (and some of us, hope) that the game will see an XBLA release.

With that said, Telltale has released a trio of new screens that perfectly capture the graphic novel aesthetics of the game. It's tough to say if these images are taken directly from gameplay or cutscenes, but the actual game does promise to utilize this same art style. The game focuses on two new characters not seen in the graphic novel or TV series, but they will cross paths with characters recognizable by fans. The game also aims to be an emotional story of loss and despair, and other cheery things.

Telltale Games has made a reputation for excellent storytelling and unconventional gameplay, so we can pretty safely expect something along those lines for the episodically-released The Walking Dead. Episode one (of five) is due out in digital format sometime this spring. We'll be sure to cover more of this game up to (and hopefully after) the platforms are announced.
