Windows 8 Previews Xbox 360 Compatibility

We wouldn't usually cover anything to do with the latest Windows operating system; at first glance it doesn't appear to be very relevant to gaining achievements or gaming in general. However, as we confirmed back in September, Windows 8 will be able to bring Xbox LIVE to the PC. This means that your Xbox 360 games, music, films and TV shows can be shared across the two Microsoft platforms.

The latest consumer preview shows the operating system in action. The app for Xbox LIVE allows users to view their achievements and friends. You will also be able to customise your avatar. One of the things that is demonstrated is the ability to start up your Xbox games on the PC, with Pinball FX2 (Xbox 360) being the game of choice. Zen Studios have since confirmed that Pinball FX 2 will be coming to the Windows 8 platform.

Those of you who have a slightly longer attention span will want to check out this eight minute demonstration with Jensen Harris, director of program management on the Windows User Experience team.

The beta version of Windows 8 is available for download today from the Windows 8 consumer preview website. The full version is expected to be launched in Autumn 2012.
