Things have been rather quiet on the DmC: Devil May Cry front since mid-December, but now Capcom has released a new set of screenshots accompanied by artwork of Dante and his weapons: Rebellion and Ebony & Ivory.

A few details of Dante’s backstory for Ninja Theory’s reboot have also been revealed and while I could summarize it, Capcom's own fact sheet explains it in far greater detail:

DmC Art 2

The Dante of DMC Devil May Cry is a young man with no respect for authority or society in general. Dante knows that he is not human, but also that he is not like the demons that have tormented him throughout his life. Caught between worlds, he feels like an outcast.

Dante grew up in various institutions, orphanages, youth correction facilities and foster homes but these were mostly operated by demons and often resulted in torture and violence. Dante has therefore developed a deep hatred of demons and authority in general but tries to stay incognito. He sides with the little guy, the victims of what he sees as an unfair society.

The Rebellion sword was given to Dante by his father Sparda as a weapon with which he could protect him from the demons that hunt him. How Dante came in to possession of Ebony and Ivory or where they come from is unknown.
DmC: Devil May Cry currently has no launch window, though we'll be sure to bring any new information to you as soon as we have it. Head here to check out our previous coverage of the title.
