Rock Band Blitz Trailer and Gameplay

Yesterday we revealed Harmonix's long-teased next project, The XBLA title will not use any of the plastic instruments that you may have amassed over the years. Instead, players have to press the buttons in time to one of four tracks corresponding to different instruments. A successful sequence will lock the beat in and allow players to switch to another track.

Have a look at the official trailer which introduces some of the gameplay features of the title:

If that isn't enough for you, Harmonix has provided four minutes of gameplay footage as we see a full Bang Camaro track in action:

I just want to clarify a point that we made in the last article about importing tracks. Rock Band Blitz will include 25 tracks, and those tracks can be imported into Rock Band 3. However, there was a little confusion over porting tracks in the other direction. Tracks can only be imported into Rock Band Blitz if they are stored on your hard drive. This means that all DLC tracks and tracks that have been transferred onto the hard drive from previous Rock Band games CAN be used with Rock Band Blitz. Unfortunately, tracks from the Rock Band 3 disc CAN'T be used with the new title. Why? There is no way at present to transfer these tracks to the hard drive to use them with other games. According to a statement issued to Joystiq, there are no current plans to allow disc tracks to be imported from Rock Band 3 either.

Now that we have cleared up any potential confusion, Rock Band Blitz is due to be released this summer. A price is yet to be confirmed.
