TA Gaming Stats - April 2nd to April 8th, 2012

By Mark Delaney, 6 years ago
Another week has gone by, and with it, another millions of TA points and gamerscore were attained. It's great to see the site grow month after month, and that growth is really represented in these bar graphs.

This report is for the period April 2nd to April 8th, 2012.

Games Started
19,336 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 31,858 games between them (1,538 different games).

The force was strong in this category, but truthfully, not that strong. The much-awaited Kinect Star Wars just edged out Mass Effect 3 for the top spot, but still to this day ME3 has not dropped below second place. Will The Witcher 2 possibly do that next week? The fall releases are still chugging away and may continue to do so during the slow months ahead. After a few releases this month and next, June-August is as always, pretty slow.

A foregone conclusion at this point is that a new Fun Lab will always claim the top spot here, and that trend continues with Snapshot. I don't own a Kinect, but anything that involves Toy Story in even the smallest way gets my approval. It appears that the House Party is finally over and the last guests have been woken up and told to go home. None of the four promo games crack the top ten this week, and we may not seem them again til the inevitable sales.

Sid Meier's critically-acclaimed Civ series came to WP7 this week, and naturally, people jumped on it. As I've said before, I don't own a smart phone, so I normally leave this section up to you guys to tell me if they're any good, but the Civilization series is great, and I'm not even a fan of the genre. I'd imagine this Windows Phone makeover is a great game on the go, yes?

Games Completed
6,387 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 9,525 games between them (1,093 different games).

People are still lining up in droves to finish off Shepard's trilogy, which is good news, because we surely have a whole season of DLC ahead of us, both paid and free. ProStreet again makes the list, which is a testament to the work that a lot of people, including many from this site, have put in to getting those last, soon to be unobtainable achievements.

Top Retail Games Completed

What do you know? Another list dominated by Fun Labs. Did you guys ever read the elementary school book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (or one of the many sequels — Moose/Muffin, Pig/Pancake, etc.)? This list is kind of like that. If you give an achievement hunter free achievements, they're going to want more and more. Luckily, Fun Labs keeps dishing them out. Aw, now I'm hungry.

Top Arcade Games Completed

More people jumped on the easy completion/achievements of Boot Camp, though I still haven't heard one good thing about the game. However, when has a bad game ever stopped us from playing it? I have Hannah Montana and Avatar in my games played list, though if I may clear my name, I played Hannah Montana with my sister and Avatar was during a gamerscore race. Still, those are two stains that will never wash off.

Top Windows Phone Games Completed

Achievements Won
50,839 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 633,808 achievements online between them (43,128 different achievements).

This list is dominated by two of the biggest threequels of the generation. Gears makes a strong appearance due to its recent DLC, "Forces of Nature". The fact that Kinect Star Wars doesn't show up at all makes me wonder how much those 760 people really enjoyed what they've seen of the game so far. If you've played it already, I'd love to hear your thoughts. The community and gaming world in general seemed pretty skeptical of the game's quality, despite some hype.

Top Retail Achievements Won

I can't say much about this list. It's pretty much like this every week. Fun Labs dominate time after time. We all know the story.

Top Arcade Achievements Won

Despite the Boot Camp breeze, Civilization Revolution managed to claim the top spot. Bravo to that. Doodle God is a game I'm unfamiliar with, but it sounds cool by the title. Can anyone tell me what it's about, and perhaps if it's any good? I'll look for it on my Kindle Fire.

Total TrueAchievements won by Genre

It was a pretty quiet week for releases and such, but the community still broke the ten million mark, as we have every week in recent history. This week, I pitched in with a lot from Metro 2033. What did you guys contribute to these numbers?
