Port Royale 3 Sails the Seas

By Rebecca Smith, 6 years ago
Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants gives players an opportunity to build a swashbuckling empire in the Caribbean during the 17th Century. Spain, England, France and the Netherlands are all fighting for control over the seas. Players take on the role of a young captain trying to gain a reputation (and fortune) in this trying time.

There are two roles that players can assume: adventurer or trader. The adventurer, or in other words a pirate, heads on a naval conquest full of raids, piracy, plundering, bounties and conquering cities. The trader (otherwise known as a merchant) takes a more economically strategic route to build up trade routes, develop cities and build new production facilities. Of course, if you don't want to choose one or the other, free-play mode will allow you combine the two at your leisure.

This latest gameplay trailer shows a number of the different gameplay elements, including naval battles, trading and production.

Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants is due to be released on September 4th in North America and September 7th in Europe.
