Hasbro Family Game Night Retail Disc Announced

EA and Hasbro have announced that the previously XBLA-exclusive Family Game Night titles will all be available on a disc come November 10th:

"With the holidays coming up, there will be lots of opportunities to get friends and family together for some quality bonding time—and with so many new ways to play your favorite Hasbro board games on digital platforms, it's never been easier to bring fun and laughter to holiday gatherings. To make new memories and form a new family tradition this holiday season, be sure to try some of the newest ways to enjoy Family Game Night:

A retail version of HASBRO FAMILY GAME NIGHT comes to the Xbox 360 on 11/10 with full Xbox LIVE connectivity and classic games like SCRABBLE (North America only), BATTLESHIP, YAHTZEE, CONNECT FOUR, BOGGLE, SORRY! and SORRY! SLIDERS (MSRP $39.99)."

Also announced was the upcoming release of Monopoly on the Games on Demand service, hitting Xbox Live on November 10th, for a whopping $29.99 USD. Trivial Pursuit will follow in its footsteps on December 8th, for a slightly more reasonable $19.99 USD.

Seriously, does this news even slightly surprise anyone? I personally was expecting this inevitability, and am feeling pretty glad that I haven't bought any of these games yet. I'd much more happily fork out less money for a disc version than seven separate, over-priced XBLA titles, as nice as I thought the original concept for release was. Plus, the ability to now rent the games is a definite win for us achievement whores!

Unfortunately, there is currently no word on any release outside of North America, but I'm sure it won't be long until we see it appearing on our shores. D'oh! Family Game Night is currently scheduled for a PAL release on November 13th, RRP of £30. Thanks to http://www.trueachievements.com/Nuffzx.htm for the heads up.
