In a surprise, and surprising, announcement today Square Enix has announced an official release date for Final Fantasy XIII. Now normally, we gamers outside of Japan don't get too excited about this since it usually takes a llloooonng time for Final Fantasy games to actually hit North American and European shores.
Not so this time, dear gamers. I guess the thirteenth time is the charm.
Square Enix has officially announced that Final Fantasy XIII will release simultaneously for PS3 and Xbox360 on March 9, 2010 in North America and Europe, only four months after the Japanese release. This announcement came from John Yamamoto himself, president and CEO of Square Enix.
Although the release date is official, I still don't know if I would rely too heavily on it considering publishers' recent trend to tell fibs in regards to these dates.
At any rate, we can hope!
