TA Gaming Stats - May 21st to May 27th 2012

By the time you read this, I will be knee deep in E3 news. Let's make this short, sweet and only slightly painful.

This report is for the period May 21st to May 27th 2012.

Games Started
20,548 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 30,239 games between them (1,511 different games).

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is pretty popular; as I'm writing this on June 1st, it has nearly doubled and will break 10k total gamers just after E3. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is at 36,406 total gamers, so the follow up title has quite a way to go.

Max Payne 3 continues to add to its impressive numbers by busting through the 10k barrier this week. Continuing the trend of high profile, high quality Rockstar releases, Max Payne 3 also has a 4.7 rating from the TA Community.

What else has a 4.7 rating from the TA Community? Dragon's Dogma, the first RPG in a long time from Capcom. I can't be the only one that enjoyed the Breath of Fire series, right? The third game was easily my favorite.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is also really popular. I look forward to games attempting to utilize the 1600 MSP price point in the future, as the only one to really take off at that price IS Minecraft. Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode 1 may have done it first, but with only 7,948 total gamers after months of being discounted to 800 MSP, it is nowhere near the success of Minecraft.

Speaking of nowhere near the success of Minecraft, SEGA Vintage Collection: Alex Kidd & Co.! Granted that one probably cost SEGA roughly $10 to get out the door; as a wise man once said, "nothing says profit margin like re-releases."

Oh look! It's Dragon's Lair! That game gets around so much, it might as well be a Kardashian. Fun fact: I learn from our Dragon's Lair reviewer, osubluejacket, that Princess Daphne was based on Playboy models.

Top Arcade Games Started

Droplitz Delight (WP) furthers the trend of WP franchises. Last week's top title, geoDefense Swarm (WP), is also still on the list. Both games are evidence that, as a gaming platform, the Windows Phone is just starting to actually grow out of its infancy.

Top Windows Phone Games Started

Games Completed
6,732 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 9,298 games between them (1,078 different games).

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 had DLC released for it, as did TrueAchievement's 2011 Racing Game of the Year Forza Motorsport 4, explaining those sudden rises to the top. Halo: Reach, as I learned last week, had a sale on DLC recently, which is why it's quite so popular again.

Top Retail Games Completed

Minecraft has been completed by 5,235 gamers. That only gives it a completion rate of 21.17%. The mind boggles at these numbers.

Nothing else is too notable, though I have to wonder when The Walking Dead (Xbox 360) will reach the coveted 90%+ completion rate.

Top Arcade Games Completed

Monopoly (WP) benefits from a recent sale. The rest of the list is similar to the past two weeks, though the lack of Droplitz Delight means it must be a decently hard completion, or it could have a buggy achievement, one or the other.

Top Windows Phone Games Completed

Achievements Won
46,370 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 592,098 achievements online between them (45,358 different achievements).

You have to go all the way down to the ninth most popular achievement in order to find a multiplayer one from Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

Top Retail Achievements Won

This chart is simply more evidence that life is good for Notch.

Top Arcade Achievements Won

As usual, the Windows Phone gives us the most variety and, as usual, it also gives us the lowest overall numbers.

Total TrueAchievements won by Genre

With Modern Warfare 3 DLC, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and the recent Halo: Reach sale, Shooter was going to be number one. No other genre even had a chance.
