Wordament Adds French

By Michelle Balsan,
When You vs. the Internet's Wordament (WP) was released, they promised that the game would eventually be expanded to include several other languages. Since then, Dutch has been added, as have Spanish, Swedish and German.

Now, the Wordament team has revealed that the French Language edition beta is up and ready for use.

A couple things that you French speakers are likely to want to know, given a quick look at the game board, is how the game handles accents and ligatures. Accents have been removed from the grid, so "ete and été will both be found by swiping E-T-E with the most commonly used accenting showing up in the list of found words". With ligatures, words such as "œuvre" can be found by swiping O-E-U-V-R-E.

At the moment, the French Language edition will include normal puzzles and digrams, with themed versions to follow. The lexicon for this version covers "both Continental French as well as some global French (including French Canadian)", but the beauty of the beta is that if you're a native French speaker and you see something is amiss, you can go ahead and let the development team know about it.

The French Language edition is available right now. You can check it out by going to Help & Options and changing your Puzzle Language to "French BETA".
