Microsoft Announces This Year's G3 Event

By Michelle Balsan, 6 years ago
Last year, Microsoft launched its G3 initiative through which gamers can raise money for the Childrens' Miracle Network Hospitals simply through gaming. After all, as the Childrens' Miracle Network states, not all kids can play video games, but all kids want to play, so here's a chance for gamers to get together and make that happen.

What can you do to help out? First, head to the Extra Life website and get yourself registered. Once you've completed that, ask your friends and family to sponsor you for every hour that you intend to play. Then, on August 18th, fire up your Xbox and play for the number of hours you were sponsored for.

In order to encourage as many people as possible to join, Microsoft revealed that they will also be offering up a free weekend of Xbox LIVE Gold to coincide with the event, so you have no reason not to participate. You'd just be playing games anyway!

Feel free to post links to your fundraising pages in the comments below! For more details on the event, head right over here.

When not contributing to gaming websites, she makes her living as a mild-mannered librarian. She can be compelled to play just about anything if there's a co-op component, and has been playing games with friends and siblings since the Atari 2600. As it's reportedly healthy to have hobbies outside of gaming, she also roots for some of the most difficult sporting franchises to root for, the New York Mets and New York Jets, but offsets that by rooting for the New Jersey Devils. She's also seen pretty much none of the movies you have, but she's working on that.
