Ubisoft is rolling out a Far Cry New Dawn 60 fps update for players collecting the Far Cry New Dawn achievements on Xbox Series X|S. If you're looking forward to playing the post-apocalyptic shooter this week when it leaves our list of upcoming Game Pass games, you'll be in for a smoother experience.

Far Cry New Dawn joins Assassin's Creed Syndicate in getting Xbox Series X|S update

  • Ubisoft is rolling out a 60fps Xbox Series X|S update for Far Cry New Dawn
  • The company temporarily disabled the game's use of Xbox's FPS Boost on Friday to apply the update
  • Far Cry New Dawn has also been updated on PS5
In another surprise announcement, Ubisoft has revealed that it is updating five-year-old Far Cry New Dawn with a 60fps patch on Xbox Series X|S. Late last year, the company rolled out a similar patch for Assassin's Creed Syndicate, somewhat randomly. Perhaps we'll see a few more performance boosts in some of Ubisoft's other aging titles in the coming months.

"Well… this wasn’t how we planned to announce this," Ubisoft said on X. "A 60 fps update is coming to Far Cry New Dawn on Xbox Series X|S! But to ensure a smooth rollout, we need to temporarily disable FPS Boost today at 4 PM PST (Feb 1, 0000 UTC). Thank you for your patience!"

The update arrives just in time for Far Cry New Dawn's drop into Game Pass, as the post-apocalyptic shooter joins Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Standard, and PC Game Pass tomorrow, February 4. Ubisoft hasn't confirmed if the update is now live on Xbox (let us know if you've seen it), but it has rolled out to all players on PS5.

If you're yet to check out New Dawn, it is a spin-off set 17 years after the events of Far Cry 5 where the fictional Hope County, Montana, is dealing with the fallout of a nuclear disaster. It features all of the core Far Cry tropes you'd expect: plenty of map clearing, outposts to capture from bandits, and a myriad of other activities to complete while working through the main storyline. There are some pretty cool base-building elements in New Dawn too, so that was a nice touch.

Will you be jumping back into Far Cry New Dawn to check out the Xbox first-person shooter's latest update, or are there any other Ubisoft games you'd like to see get similar treatment? Drop a comment below and let us know, friends!
