With many players now collecting the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series Xbox achievements, we almost have the whole series on the platform. Rumors last month suggested that the "whole slate" could be coming to Xbox, but it is just a question of when. Square Enix's Naoki Yoshida wants to release Final Fantasy 16 on Xbox, and urges you not to lose hope.

Final Fantasy 16 producer urges players to not lose hope of seeing an Xbox port

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Square Enix producer Naoki Yoshida was asked if there was any news to be shared about a potential Final Fantasy 16 Xbox port now that it has been announced for PC. "We do want to release it on Xbox," Yoshida said. "But when it comes to the specifics such as when the game would be available and such, we are not in a position to be able to share anything. But of course, I want to say that it’s not as if there’s zero hope, and we very much do want to achieve that. So players should not give up in terms of their hopes."

Last month, Windows Central's Jez Corden suggested that we could see the "whole slate" of Final Fantasy games launch on Xbox in the future. Unsure about release timings, Corden said that "Final Fantasy 7 will eventually come to Xbox," but we'd "probably be able to expect Pixel Remasters and maybe Final Fantasy 16 initially."

VG247's Alex Donaldson also commented on the potential for a Final Fantasy 16 Xbox port, saying that "[Final Fantasy] 16, I think, is more obvious and clear-cut. You only need to look at Yoshida's comments over the last six or so months. It's clear that will happen sooner rather than later."

The recent comments from Naoki Yoshida suggest that a Final Fantasy 16 Xbox port is in the works, we'll just need to wait a little longer until it's announced. As for Final Fantasy 7, well, that one appears to be an unknown for now.

If you want to check out where the Final Fantasy series began, you'll want to pick up all the games in the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series, which includes all six classic Final Fantasy games remastered with improved visuals and a host of quality-of-life upgrades. It launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC last month with six achievement lists.
