It's been almost a year since we've had any new Forza Horizon 5 achievements, but that's about to change. Playground Games has now detailed Forza Horizon 5's new Hide and Seek mode, which will be coming to the Xbox racing game on September 10.

Forza Horizon 5 gets new 5v1 Hide and Seek mode on September 10

Forza Horizon 5's Hide and Seek is a new multiplayer mode for up to six players. At the start of a round, players are randomly assigned one of two roles: Hider or Seeker. As the Hider, your task is to speed across the map to a specific location within a set amount of time without being caught by the team of Seekers. You will need to blend into traffic and use the environment to your advantage to reach your destination before the timer runs out or the Seekers grab enough points for the win. The Hider will be able to use the following cars:
  • 2012 Jeep Wrangler
  • 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor
  • 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2
  • 2018 Mercedes X Class
The remaining five players in a round will take on the role of Seekers, who fill up their Detection Meter by finding the Hider and staying close. If your team maxes out the meter, you win. Seekers will have these cars at their disposal:
  • 2016 BMW M4 GTS
  • 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
  • 2011 Mercedes SLS AMG
  • 2015 Audi RS6
  • 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X GSR
  • 2021 Ford Bronco
Playground notes that all cars used in this mode, for both the Hider and Seekers, will only be available in their stock formats.

The game is split into two phases, each lasting four minutes. In the first phase, the Hider must remain hidden while Seekers "make their best effort to locate them before this phase ends and lock on their position to fill the Seeker’s Detection Meter and ensure the win." In the second phase, a random End Zone will become active. The Seekers then have four minutes to find the Hider before they reach the End Zone.

Interestingly, both the Hider and Seekers have special abilities they can use to achieve their objectives. The Seekers can utilize a radar pointing to the Hider's rough location. Once the Hider has been found, Seekers can use a Ping ability to lock onto their location and reveal the Hider on the map for 20 seconds for other players to follow. Hiders have a special ability called Chase Breaker, which, when activated, will "force-brake the Seekers and turn off their Radar and Ping for 20 seconds." It will also turn the Hider's car into a ghost, which means they can "pass through any smashable object in the game." Of course, all of these abilities have a cooldown, so use them sparingly.

Playground has also confirmed that Hide and Seek will have its own progression track where you can earn XP exclusively for this game mode, level up, and earn badges. There will be new accolades tied to Hide and Seek to unlock, as well as some new achievements. Sadly, this batch of achievements won't be available at the launch of Hide and Seek and instead "will be released in a future update in October."

In other Forza Horizon news, Playground Games is delisting Forza Horizon 4 later this year, so if you don't yet own a copy, you might want to think about picking one up ASAP.
